New insecticide expected in 2008

OHP, Inc. is excited about the upcoming EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) registration of a new insecticide from Bayer Corp, our business partner. Once registration is granted, look for OHP to introduce the product, as yet unnamed, to the ornamental market in the near future. With active ingredient spirotetramat, the new insecticide shows superior activity against sucking insects like aphids, whiteflies, mealybugs, leafminers, and even thrips, according to Dr. Richard Lindquist, OHP senior technical manager. The active ingredient is applied as a spray or drench and moves up and down in the plant’s vascular system. Spirotetramat is classified as a reduced risk pesticide by the EPA. Look for a lot more information on this most exciting product in the months to come.
