Marathon® still shining star on aphids

Marathon 60WP - OHP, Inc.Since 1994, Marathon has been providing consistent, long-term control of sucking insects such as aphids, whiteflies, and mealybugs. Now, 13 years later, Marathon is an elder statesman but is still providing the best aphid control in the ornamental market. That’s especially important as we head into the Spring season. We all know that means aphid populations spike on things like hanging baskets and potted plant material.

When applied properly, Marathon provides upwards of 8-10 weeks of insect control. It is best to apply Marathon early in the crop to young, vigorously-growing plant material. As always, proper sanitation practices and cultural controls will increase the effectiveness of any pesticide application. Growers have a choice of three formulations: Marathon 1% G, the only granular chlornicotynl in the marketplace; Marathon 60WP in water soluble packaging; and Marathon II liquid formulation. For more information contact your local OHP representative. All product labels and MSDS can be found here.

Marathon 60WP now labeled as foliar spray

Since its introduction in 1996, Marathon 60WP has been labeled for drench use only. Recently,we added foliar spray labeling to the product. Rates are one 20-gram packet per 100 gallons of water. There are five 20-gram packets in a pouch of Marathon 60WP. Growers should use the product as part of rotation strategy which involves products with dissimilar modes of action.
